Cookware store opens downtown on N. High
Nothing But Cooking, brainchild of Stark software consultant with passion for food, offers variety of specialty cookware, including a lot of high-end stuff. It'll have site for online sales, too By Lisa Abraham Beacon Journal food writer It's been a long time since the terms ``shopping'' and ``downtown Akron'' have been in the same sentence. Matt Reeder hopes to change that with Nothing But Cooking, a specialty cookware store he has opened on North High Street. ``We're a pioneer right now,'' he said. The store opened a few weeks ago with little fanfare. Reeder plans a grand opening later this month. It's perhaps a testament to the era that the storefront was an afterthought to what was intended to be an online cookware business.
Top-quality gear is always on sale at Sierra Trading Post
BOISE, Idaho - During the grand opening of the Sierra Trading Post outlet in Meridian, Idaho, an overwhelmed customer summed up the mood of the crowd, saying, "This is great!" He was talking about a 25,000-square-foot space packed with everything from motorcycle boots to backpacks to sunglasses to wetsuits to skis to fishing rods to home wares to velvet skirts - all at closeout prices. But if the word "closeout" has you picturing a scummy warehouse full of cheap imports, you've obviously never seen a Sierra Trading Post catalog, browsed the store's Web site (www.sierratradingpost.com) or visited one of only three other retail locations in the world (two in Wyoming, one in Nevada.). The brand is known for offering bargain prices on pricey merchandise, much of which comes from outdoor giants like Patagonia, Marmot, Columbia and Arc'Teryx, just to name a few.

Online today: Keep library where it is or move it to Norland
It would be my hope that the library would continue to use the current site in some capacity, I can see they need more room. But that "house" holds such memories for so many. A lot of people walk to the library -- probably those who need its services most -- and those who do drive may also go to some businesses downtown. We already have Grove Library for those who prefer out-of-town driving. I like driving to Coyle because it is only a few minutes away, downtown, and takes little gas. It's also an interesting place. If moving out of town were not a problem, a nice location for the library might be the Norland Shopping Center (old Safeway/Superfresh building). I'd prefer to see the library remain downtown (so folks can walk to get there), but if that option doesn't work out, Norland Shopping Center can't be any more than four miles away (spacious, easy access, plenty of parking).
